A closed-form solution for the failure interaction diagrams of pile groups subjected to inclined eccentric load

Abstract The work at hand proposes a method for assessing, under reasonable hypotheses from an engineering perspective, the failure envelope of pile group subjected to generalized loading conditions involving vertical and lateral force along with moment. Following different assumptions increasing complexity, simple closed-form expression, which is however capable considering also strong dependence sectional yielding moment on axial force, derived. use such formula, allows practical calculation interaction diagrams failure, returns conservative yet very accurate results. As follow up, reference reinforced concrete piles, design considerations both structural geotechnical load are reported. It found that most cases, if steel reinforcement established resist bending moment, Ultimate Limit State checks automatically satisfied.
